Taylor Swift Now Fully Owns Her Music

Taylor Swift now owns all her music recordings, finishing a fight that began over six years ago.
She confirmed the news in a letter on her website, revealing that she had bought back her original tracks from Shamrock Capital. “All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs to me,” she wrote.
The battle started in 2019, when Scooter Braun bought Big Machine Records and gained the rights to the artist’s earlier albums. In response, she began recording new versions to take back control.
So far, she has released updated editions of “Fearless,” “Red,” “Speak Now,” and “1989.” All four debuted at the top of the Billboard 200.
Now, Swift owns not just her music, but also the rights to her videos, album images, and unreleased material. Her self-titled debut re-recording is complete. She said “less than a quarter of Reputation has been recorded,” but she’ll release it “when the time is right.”
Key points:
- Owns all past work, including visuals and extras
- Four re-recordings already out
- Deal made with Shamrock Capital
- Future release planned for “Reputation”
Her move is being seen as a major step in artist empowerment.
