Anna Wintour Steps Aside as Vogue U.S. Editor

Anna Wintour stepped away from her role as editor-in-chief of Vogue U.S., concluding a 37-year run that began in 1988. The announcement came on June 25 during a company meeting.
While she will no longer lead the U.S. edition, Wintour continues to serve as Global Editorial Director for Vogue and Chief Content Officer at Condé Nast. These roles allow her to remain a central figure in shaping the brand worldwide.
The move comes as Condé Nast shifts its editorial structure. It is now looking for a Head of Editorial Content to take over the U.S. version of Vogue.
Throughout her career, Wintour consistently pushed boundaries in fashion publishing. She brought celebrities to covers, elevated rising designers, and helped Vogue expand its digital reach. Her first cover in 1988, which featured jeans paired with high fashion, marked a bold shift in the magazine’s style.
