The Game Awards 2025: Big Nominations, Bigger Streams, and What’s Coming This Year
The Game Awards are back on December 11, 2025, and this year’s show is shaping up to be one of the busiest yet. The ceremony is returning to the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, but the real change is how many ways you’ll be able to watch it.
A New Era of Streaming

For the first time, The Game Awards will stream on Amazon Prime Video. It’s a big move that brings the show to a wider audience, and Prime Video is leaning into it with a special storefront featuring deals, bundles, and offers on nominated games.
Twitch and YouTube are still part of the mix, but Twitch viewers get an upgrade this year. The show will run in 2K (1440p), the highest quality they’ve used so far, and watching on Twitch may unlock in-game rewards or exclusive badges through Drops.
Nominees That Are Getting the Most Buzz
The 2025 nominations dropped on November 17, and one game immediately stood out: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. It pulled in 12 nominations, the highest number ever for a single title at the show. Categories include Game of the Year, Best Performance, and Best Art Direction.
Xbox has a strong lineup this year, with several titles from first-party studios making the list:
- Avowed
- DOOM: The Dark Ages
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
- The Outer Worlds 2
For Game Pass players, a few nominated titles are already available there, including Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Hollow Knight: Silksong, which also picked up multiple nominations.
Voting is open through the official Game Awards website. Final results follow the show’s usual system: 90% jury vote and 10% fan vote. To qualify, games needed to release by November 21, 2025.
What to Look Forward to on December 11
The Game Awards have become known not just for the trophies but for the announcements, and this year should be no different. Expect new trailers, updates on major 2026 releases, and a few surprise premieres.
Sony leads all publishers this year with 19 total nominations, followed by Kepler Interactive and Electronic Arts. Meanwhile, one familiar segment won’t return: the “Future Class” program highlighting newer creators has been paused for 2025.
With more ways to watch, a competitive lineup, and several major studios showing up strong, The Game Awards 2025 is set to close out the year with a packed show — and likely a few surprises fans will be talking about afterward.
