Anne Burrell, Food Network Chef, Dies at 55

Anne Burrell, best known for leading Food Network’s Worst Cooks in America, died on June 17 in Brooklyn, New York. Paramedics reached her home around 8 a.m. and found her unconscious. They pronounced her dead shortly after. Her cause of death is under review while officials wait for autopsy results.
She first appeared on Iron Chef America in 2005 and soon led her own series, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. From 2010 to 2024, she co-hosted Worst Cooks in America, guiding contestants through humorous and emotional challenges. In 2025, she helped launch a new series, House of Knives.
Burrell was born in Cazenovia, New York. After earning her degree from the Culinary Institute of America in 1996, she brought her talents to TV. She also published cookbooks, with Cook Like a Rock Star making the New York Times bestseller list in 2011.

Her loved ones said, “Her smile lit up every room… her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.” The Food Network added, “Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent… our thoughts are with Anne’s family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss.” Carla Hall called her “an incredibly talented cook and teacher.”
Burrell brought excitement to food television. Through each show, she made cooking feel accessible and fun. Her legacy will last far beyond the screen.
