Air India Plane Crashes in Ahmedabad, No Survivors Among 242 Onboard

An Air India flight crashed just minutes after taking off from Ahmedabad on Thursday, killing all 242 people on board. The aircraft was en route to London Gatwick when it went down in a densely populated area near a college campus.
Shortly after departure, Flight AI171 issued a Mayday call before losing contact with air traffic control. At approximately 1:38 p.m. local time, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed near BJ Medical College, striking a student hostel. Emergency crews arrived quickly but were unable to save anyone on board.
The crash claimed the lives of 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Most of the victims were citizens of India and the United Kingdom, with others from Portugal and Canada. The impact also injured several people, as debris from the hostel site scattered across the area. Authorities confirmed casualties on the ground as well.
