Actor David H. K. Bell Passes at 46 After ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Debut

David Hekili Kenui Bell, known professionally as David H. K. Bell, a Hawaii-based actor, died on June 12 at age 46. While authorities ruled out foul play, they continue to investigate the cause through an autopsy.

Just weeks before his death, Bell celebrated a major career milestone. He played the “Big Hawaiian Dude” in Disney’s live-action “Lilo & Stitch,” which premiered in May 2025. He brought his family to the Kapolei screening less than two weeks before he passed.

Earlier in his career, Bell earned roles on television. He appeared in episodes of “Hawaii Five-0” and “Magnum P.I.” Additionally, travelers at Kona International Airport recognized his voice from public announcements. More recently, he joined the cast of “The Wrecking Crew,” a film starring Jason Momoa.

His sister, Jalene Kanani Bell, shared the news on Facebook: “It is with a heavy heart I share that my sweet, generous, talented, funny, brilliant and handsome little brother David H. K. Bell will spend today in the company of our Heavenly Father.”

At the same time, his agent, Lashauna Downie, described him as a “gentle giant” who carried aloha in every part of his life.

Bell’s passing followed a high point in his career. He left behind friends, family, and fans who admired his warmth and the joy he brought to each role.
