Where to Find the Best Fries in Houston for National French Fry Day

· · · · · · ·

It may not come with time off work, but National French Fry Day (July 13) is still a solid reason to plan your next snack. Houston brings a lot to the table when it comes to the best fries, be it something spicy, cheesy, topped with seafood, or just plain done right.

We rounded up the top places in Houston where fries are not a side, but the main reason to show up.

The French Fry House

This family-run business is all fries, all the time, loaded with big Southern and Gulf flavors. The Buffalo Chicken Fries hit the comfort food sweet spot, while the Shrimp & Crawfish Étouffée Fries are as filling as they sound. It recently relocated to a larger space to keep up with demand.

Oh My Gogi!

A longtime late-night favorite, Oh My Gogi! merges Korean and Mexican influences. The OMG! Fries are layered with bulgogi beef, spicy mayo, shredded cheese, and green onions. You can find them at events, food truck stops, and now a brick-and-mortar spot inside a Galleria food hall.

Bar Boheme

This neighborhood bar isn’t usually the first name you hear for fries, but their version brings in Vietnamese flavors. Garlic, hoisin, sriracha, and cilantro coat a pile of thin fries that pair well with a cold drink. The patio setting is relaxed, and the food comes out quickly.

Hopdoddy

Hopdoddy keeps a full roster of fry options, including sweet potato and truffle Parmesan varieties. Their Buffalo Fries bring tangy heat, while the Truffle Fries add a richer edge. It’s one of the few places in Houston where you can mix and match a fry flight and a craft beer.

The Burger Joint

Don’t be fooled by the name. While burgers are the main draw here, the fries have their own fan base. The Bacon-Parmesan Fries offer smoke, crunch, and just enough cheese. They go well with the frozen drinks and casual patio seating that stays lively well into the evening.

The Fry Guys

This shop lets you build your own fry dish from the ground up. Choose your cut, your protein, and your sauces, from jerk chicken to vegan cheese to house-made buffalo drizzle. They also have signature items like Garlic Parmesan Fries or Hot Box Fries with shredded chicken.

Crisp

Crisp is a wine bar that treats its fries seriously. Their Truffle Parmesan Fries come out crisped, seasoned with restraint, and meant for nibbling over drinks rather than rushing through a plate. It’s a good stop if you’re aiming for something lighter, but still well done.
