‘King of the Hill’ Jonathan Joss Fatally Shot in San Antonio
Jonathan Joss, known to many as John Redcorn from “King of the Hill,” died after being shot on June 1 near his burned-down home in San Antonio. He was 59.
Joss and his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, were visiting the site when a confrontation took place with neighbor Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja. Alvarez Ceja allegedly used slurs and then shot Joss. Police say Joss pushed Gonzales out of the line of fire. Alvarez Ceja has been arrested and charged with murder.
“Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone; we were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life,” de Gonzales said in a statement.
Investigators are continuing to gather details.

Joss had a long career in television and film, including roles in “Parks and Recreation,” “Tulsa King,” “Ray Donovan,” and major movies. He was due to reprise his role in Hulu’s new version of “King of the Hill,” set for release in August.
He was proud of his Comanche and White Mountain Apache heritage and worked to increase Native presence in Hollywood. Earlier this year, he married Gonzales in February on Valentine’s Day.
Fans will see Joss one more time when the Hulu series debuts later this year.
