Apple’s iOS 26 Adds Liquid Glass Design and AI Tools

Apple launched iOS 26 with a fresh look, called Liquid Glass, which gives your iPhone a glowing, layered feel. It changes how apps and screens appear, adding a sense of motion and light. This update works across all Apple systems and was introduced at WWDC 2025.
In addition to the visual redesign, Apple also brought in Apple Intelligence—a group of tools that can translate speech, build images, and respond to what’s on your screen. Notably, these features work offline and protect user data by staying on the device.
Furthermore, Messages now let you send polls, use ChatGPT to create images, and design custom emoji. Meanwhile, the Phone app includes better hold tools and live captions. However, some of these tools require the latest iPhones.
Main features include:
- Liquid Glass layout across Apple devices
- Apple Intelligence for smart tasks and calls
- Genmoji and ChatGPT image features
- Message upgrades: polls, payments, backgrounds
- Full features only available on newer iPhones
According to Alan Dye, Apple’s human interface VP, this is “the broadest software design update ever.” He added that the new design helps content stand out while staying easy to use.
Currently, the developer version is out, with a public version expected in July. The full release should arrive in the fall. However, Apple’s stock dipped slightly as some expected more AI news about Siri, which is now planned for next year.
