Tornado Warning Harris County 2025: Damage in Northwest Houston
A fast-moving line of storms swept into the Houston area Monday afternoon and triggered a tornado warning over parts of northwest Harris County. The warning lasted only a short time, but the storm still hit several neighbourhoods with strong winds and scattered damage.
Warning Issued as Rotation Forms on Radar

The storms grew stronger as they moved across the city. KHOU’s radar picked up a tight rotation over the northwest side, right as the system approached Klein and Cypress.
Meteorologists at FOX 26 saw the same rotation and issued a tornado warning. They urged residents near Perry Road, Stuebner Airline Road, and the surrounding communities to take shelter immediately.
Homes Hit in Memorial Northwest and Nearby Areas
Once the warning expired, residents began sharing reports of damage. Click2Houston confirmed that the storm hit hardest near Mills and Perry Road, where fences fell and debris scattered across yards.
In the Memorial Northwest subdivision, the 8000 block of Summer Grove Circle saw roof and exterior damage. A home in the 9000 block of Bayou Bluff Drive also lost part of its roof. The people inside left safely, and no injuries were reported.
Tree limbs and power lines blocked parts of nearby streets. Some homes experienced short power outages while crews worked to clear hazards.
Storm Weakens but Shows How Fast Things Can Change
FOX 26 later confirmed that the rotation weakened, and the tornado warning ended. Even with that, the event showed how quickly Houston weather can shift. Tornadoes in this region often hide inside heavy rain, so residents may not see anything before the wind hits.
Monday’s setup — warm Gulf air meeting a passing front — will remain possible through the week. Forecasters noted that more strong storms could form under similar conditions.
Officials Remind Residents to Act Fast During Warnings
Local officials repeated a simple message: tornado warnings mean move now. Seconds matter, even when the warning window is short.
They encouraged residents to keep emergency alerts on, check radar when thunderstorms approach, and know their safest spot at home. Driving during an active warning remains risky due to poor visibility and sudden wind shifts.
Weather teams and emergency crews continued checking damage through Monday evening. Investigators will review radar data and local reports to confirm if a tornado touched down.
