What Caused the Outage?

AWS cited internal faults related to DNS systems and network load balancers in the affected region. A failure in health-check monitoring triggered a cascade of service errors across various systems, causing several AWS services to fail simultaneously.
While rumors initially swirled about a cyberattack, AWS later clarified there was no evidence of malicious interference. By late morning, the team had restored most services and stabilized performance across affected systems.
The Bigger Picture: Cloud Dependency Risks
This isn’t AWS’s first major incident, but the 2025 outage highlights just how fragile the internet can be when so many services rely on a single provider. Tech analysts have called the event a wake-up call, emphasizing the risk of cloud centralization.
