Since then there were a series of Juneteenth Celebrations which grew across the US as word spread from master to slave about their freedom and ability to work for wages.

In 1980, Texans recognized Juneteenth as an official state holiday first, and then in 2021 President Joe Biden signed a bill making it a federal holiday across the United States.
